“From your notification” Google App Feature

Around end of August couple of android users shared on X that they are getting notifications from Google App, clicking those takes to the search results and shows a “From your notification” card with some other info.

Here is how the notifications look 👇

Notifications shows the Interested and Not interested buttons as well – clicking Interested or anywhere on the notification card opens the search results while Not interested just closes the notification & do nothing.

I’m also using android – Google Pixel 6 Pro (hey better than iPhone 😉) I wasn’t getting these kind of notifications from Google App in August but recently I think it started to show up around 10 Sep. After that I’m usually getting 5 to 8 notifications from Google App.

There are couple of variations of search results which show up in Google App once the notification is clicked.

Here are screenshots of all those variations.

First one – Google shows the link to the article and some query bubbles below it, clicking those takes to search results for those queries.

Second one – Google shows the link to the article and below it a carousel showing topics which are mentioned in the article.

Third one – Google shows the link to the article and below it a carousel showing “Mentioned in this article” topics which are mentioned in the article.

“Mentioned” in this article is a common feature in another Google surface – Google Discover. I think that for “From your notification” it might be working in the same way.

So far I’ve noticed just these variations and if I notice something else, I will update the article to include those as well.

“From your notification” showing “More updates for you” carousel which looks like Top Stories but actually are search queries.

Also I noticed that sometimes it shows Ads as well.

I noticed that sometimes the notification is a full long tail query like “commbank has launched its owned media network commbank connect”

And just clicking on the notification takes to the search results and instead of showing a usual “From your notification” box at top of search results, it just shows a featured snippet.

Here is how it looks like

I’m noticing that sometimes Google app is now sending a notification which shows a super long tail query.

And of course, clicking the notification takes you to the search results where the “From your notification” box is not shown.

Instead, it just shows the regular search results which is surprising because previously, for any notification that I was clicking through it was showing a from your notification box at the top of the search results.

Might be that Google is adjusting how notification is being displayed in search results once a user clicks through 🙂
