Google is now testing adding “Related videos” in the YouTube video overlay in Search Result.

Current vs test here ๐Ÿ‘‡

In search results YouTube videos Overlay shows up when user click on expand button in the top right corner of a YouTube video.

This little button is what I’m talking about!

Right now in the overlay Google displays “In this video” which is a topics timeline, “Search in video” mostly shows up but may not in some cases and “Related topics” which almost always show links to Wikipedia or in some cases shows bubbles clicking those leads to new search results.

Here is how this looks right now in Search Results.

And now Google is testing adding “Related videos” as well these are from the same channel in some cases and can be from different channels as well.

Update (10 SEP 2024) I noticed a little different UI for this as well and posted a screen recording of it on X.

Earlier today I posted about this on X as well. This tweet have a video showing “Related videos” shows up in the overlay. I would recommend checking this out.

Also regarding YouTube – recently I have been noticing that YouTube representative officially called as “YouTube’s Creator Liaison” has been posting a lot of interesting insights/tips about getting more visibility on YouTube platform. I would recommend checking his X account – a lot of useful stuff in his replies to tweets!
