Recently on X I was about Google’s site reputation abuse policy and this X user in a long thread shared some specific examples of how sites are still abusing the reputation and per the current policy should get a manual action & be removed out of Google’s Search results.
But that’s not what is happening!
Bottom line is Google don’t care about this anymore! Or I should say that’s what it seems like from the look of it.
Google don’t care about this site reputation abuse anymore when they issued actions last year I was hopeful that this will stick around but it didn’t. During the days of actions issuing long term SEO veteran Lyndon told me that it might be just PR to balance the loudness of HCU sites owners & show that we (Google) is treating SMBs and large sites equally.
And that’s what exactly it seems like was the case!
We can be hopeful that Google will do something about this again but if/when or they ever will – we just don’t know but from the looks of it. I think Google’s priority is AI Mode/Overviews and rest is just two stacks down the priority list & is getting ignored. And probably that’s why they are ignoring the small web creators and how Google is hurting the economics of their business.
But to be frank! I think good for sites which are abusing the site reputation, given the great decoupling is happening nowadays at least someone is winning and getting the traffic 😅
