Its been couple of months since I have been waiting for the launch of Google Pixel 9 and today is the day finally!! Its expected that Google will be releasing 4 models
– Pixel 9
– Pixel 9 Pro
– Pixel 9 Pro XL
– Pixel 9 Pro Fold (and they may call this Pixel Fold 2)
I’m super excited for the launch event and its scheduled for 13 August 2024 – 10 AM Pacific Time which is 3 AM on 14 Aug in Melbourne where I’m based. Although its super late in the night – I will be watching the event.
Right now I’m Google Pixel 6 Pro user and have been using it for almost last 2 years as my daily smartphone – although many friends have recommend me to switch over to iPhone but I’ve not – I love customisations which Android offers that’s probably the only reason for not moving over to iPhone.
Also based upon sources following are some of expected features of Pixel 9 models.
Design and Display
- Flatter edges and a new protruding rounded camera module design
- The Pixel 9 is expected to have a 6.3-inch OLED display
- The Pixel 9 Pro will likely feature a 6.34-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,050 nits peak brightness
- The Pixel 9 Pro XL is rumored to have a larger 6.73-inch OLED display
Performance
- Powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chipset
- 12GB RAM for the base Pixel 9, 16GB RAM for Pro models
- Storage options starting at 128GB, with up to 1TB on Pro models
Camera System
- Pixel 9: 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide, 10.5MP selfie camera
- Pixel 9 Pro/Pro XL: 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 48MP telephoto (5x zoom), 42MP selfie camera
AI and Software Features
- Running Android 14 at launch, with Android 15 coming soon after
- New AI-powered camera features like “Add Me” which can be used for adding people into photos even if they are not there (weird – haha) and “Pixel Studio”
- Improved Night Sight video capabilities
- Integration with Google’s AI chatbot Gemini
Other Features
- Faster charging speeds, especially for the Pro XL model (up to 35W)
- Satellite SOS feature and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
- UWB support on Pro models
