Google Search has been evolving forever but now with Gemini family of models Google is trying to expand it – either it to be answering longer queries using AI Mode or real time translation app that Google launched recently! All this is enabled by Gemini.

And in recently launched Google Pixel 10, Google have introduced next iteration of their Tensor chip – Tensor G5 which is enabling on device search features enabling users to search content which is on the device but is distributed across different apps and in the file system.

Search across apps on the phone using Gemini Nano model enabled by Tensor G5 – Google is calling this feature Magic Cue.

Google wrote “Magic Cue connects the dots across your apps, like Gmail, Calendar, Screenshots, Messages and more, to proactively surface relevant info and suggest helpful actions when you need them.” and also mentioned that Magic Cue runs securely and privately through a combination of the Tensor G5 chip and Gemini Nano.

Moreover users have control options to turn it off or not at any time + there are data controls too around what information or app Magic Cue can use on the device & what not.

Moreover on Google Pixel 10 devices, the next feature that Google Discover is testing – Daily Hub for all devices! but for Pixel 10 it will have Magic Cue too and show content from different apps in this feed.

Seems like we are moving towards – more personalised search and more ways to do Searching but at the same time web publishers are losing traffic from Google Search and search features like Top Stories are getting more personalised, a lot is happening in Google Discover too! But with all these changes users are becoming more powerful – better search and quicker too! no need to spend more time trying to find things and then compare (comparison hmm cuz AI Mode can do it quicker and way better) to reach some conclusion.

Moreover Google also has been testing providing open source models Gemma family on devices so that users can search things when they don’t have internet connection. Its called Google AI Edge Gallery App and I tested it back in June!
